Kenwick Park Golf Club

the Kenwick park charity golf day

Founded in 1993 by Bob Jones and three of his friends, the Competition continues to go from strength to strength and is always played on the last Friday of August.

Bob devoted 21 fantastic years to the day raising momney for local LN and DN active based Charities in the process.  This important principle of supporting Local Charities is one reason why our members have been so keen to support the day over the years.

In 2014 Steve Clarke took over the organising role from Bob Jones and has done a fantastic job in maintaining the fundamentals of the day whilst enhancing it with exciting additions such as 'Beat the Pro'!

2024 will be Steve's last event before he hands over the reins to 2023 Captain Ian Dickinson.

Such is the popularity of our Annual Charity Day it became 'invitation only' many years ago. The principle is that everyone who played in the previous event gets first refusal the following year.  Exceptions may apply for long term supporters of the event.

It is not a closed shop however and there often a few spots available for new teams each year. So it is worth advising the organiser if you would like to enter when the chance arises.

The Tournament is an AM AM (Team of 4) with an 85% playing handicap allowance..  It is the best two scores to count for the Overall Prizes and the winners will receive the suitably named Bob Jones Memorial Trophy.  There is also a Best Ladies Team Prize and On Course prizes to be won.

Dinner is served in the Clubhouse following the round, this is included in the entry fee, and it is expected that all players change before Dining.

An auction is held of special prizes, and this makes all the difference to the amount that can be awarded.

(The 2019 PGA Championship flag signed by Champion Brooks Koepka was a highly sought after auction prize)

The Charities are chosen by a different people every year, The Two Club Captains, the Organiser, and Three Individuals who bid for this right at the auction.   The cost to nominate a Charity is £600.00, this buys a team entry, and a hole sponsorship. In effect the sponsor is contributing £300.00 to the Charity of their choice.  On average we have been able to donate per Charity has been over £2000.00!  The Sponsor is invited to make the cheque presentation to their nominated Charity themselves, a most rewarding experience all round.

The Kenwick Park Charity Day is a memorable experience for those who take part.  Don't forget to register your interest if you would like to take part in future events.
