Two more trophies were dished out at the club today. Firstly, Gareth Warren and Sam Ross played out a titanic final in the singles Matchplay, the Austwick Trophy. Ultimately it was Gareth who prevailed with a one up victory. Then in the Mixed Arena, there was a log jam at the top of the Leaderboard in the Mixed Salvers. The only stipulation of the Better ball Stableford is that you can't play with your usual mixed partner!! After a back 9 countback it was Dermot Dreelan and Donna Wood who beat their 'life partners' Spencer Wood and Karen Archer into first place and Steve Blackburn and Rose Stevenson who all scored 42 points had to settle for 3rd place.
The cream rises to the top as 3 out of the top four positions went to Category One golfers in yesterday's medal. Olly Lea continued his seamless transition to life at Kenwick with an excellent level par 70 (nett 67), Club Champion Kieron Spencer Chaplin posted an ever consistent gross 71 to finish 3rd and Mick Upton produced a 'Speith' like performance on the greens to shoot a gross 73 proving that Kenwick is a great place for good golfers to play. Neil Johnson finished runner up in division 1 with a nett 67 after being edged out on countback. James Leach was the star of the show in division 2 after a nett 65 had him 6 strokes clear of Stuart Elias and Mark Sherrington In 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Round 1 of 4 completed by Kieran Towse and his 'fore caddie' aka 'Dad' Rick Towse and its only 8.20am!!!!
