Welcome to the Seniors Section
The Senior's Captain for 2017 is Malcolm Bood who will be supported by vice Captain Steve Blackburn. They would like to extend a warm welcome to members and visitors.
All male members are welcomed to join the Seniors Section on their 55th birthday.
The Seniors meet every Wednesday morning in the clubhouse for a draw before teeing off from 9.00am (8.45 on home match days), and at 9.30am in winter (Dec/Jan/February). The Senior Captain will announce the game of the day. There are a number of individual competitions, including a Senior Championship. There are also a Seniors Invitation Day and a Seniors Open Day.
The Seniors play friendly matches, home and away, against 8 other local clubs. This is an excelllent way to play those courses and make friends. In keeping with this friendly spirit, with 15 matches played we have drawn three, won five and lost seven
For this year we will continue a half way house facility for all home matches, for Invitation Day, the Seniors Open and the Christmas shotgun start and lunch event which will be run by volunteers from the Lincolnshire Wolds Riding for the Disabled Association.

Notices and sheets for these are now up on the board
As we have a number of new members that we have welcolmed to the section, added to the fact we are seniors and might forget the odd thing, Captain Malcolm has asked that I add a rules item to the to the monthly diary newsletter and then follow with a weekly rules tip just to give us a bit of consistency across the roll up groups. This has coincided with a similar initiative within the ladies section. With grateful acknowledgements to Tracy Stobart who has researched and produced these from the R&A rules material we will reproduce these here and in the bulletins that follow:
Cleaning your ball on the putting green.
A quick rule this week
I was asked about whether a player is allowed to clean their ball by rubbing it on the putting green.
This has already been decided upon and the short answer is YES.
The fuller answer is YES, provided the act is not for the purpose of testing the surface of the putting green. It is recommended that a ball be cleaned in other ways to eliminate any question as to the player's intentions.
For the full rule (Rule 16) and a selection of videos, copy the following link into Google or other web browser.
Seniors matches completed
The re-arranged match against Sleaford home was played on Wednesday 4th October 2017. The result was a 6.5/1.5 win for Kenwick Park. £66 was raised at the Halfway House and I have been asked to pass on thanks from LWRDA again for your generous contributions. Elsham home was arranged for Monday 9th October but to avoid difficulties with the access on that day the match has been cancelled and will not be re-arranged.
2017 Seniors matches order of merit
Same format as last year. Points are awarded as follows:
1 point played and lost
2 points played and match halved
3 points played and won
the match results are recorded and will if needed be used as a tie break. For example a win 2 up is +2 for the cumulative. a loss 5 and 4 is -5 on the cumulative. In total there are 16 matches. Your best twelve count towards the order of merit
