Kenwick Park Golf Club Charity Day- Helping Local Charities

It is with a mixture of pleasure and relief that we can hold this annual event in its 27th year, despite the interruption to all our lives caused by COVID-19.  The decision was delayed until July, when we calculated that we could hold a COVID friendly event maintaining a wonderful tradition.  Support from players and sponsors, and especially the Club officials has been superb.  Kenwick’s generosity to local charities is incredible, and this year of all years the local charities have seen a huge drop in income, and so we are very proud to still be able to do our bit.

ON THE DAY

COVID restrictions mean that the golf itself will be pretty well unchanged, but the administration will be different.

Aquavita will provide the usual amazing half-way house party, with charity and other volunteers serving all the tables. Teams will sit together in tables of 4, and not congregate at the bar or BBQ.

There can be no raffle, avoiding unnecessary contact. This will be replaced by name cards. There will be a significant cash win for each name card, WELL WORTH WINNING. No pens will be shared, and the seller will write all the names in the boxes chosen, and the cash will go straight into a container, eliminating contact.

Golf prizes must be vouchers, at the usual generous levels. We can’t have our usual display table from which to hand out prizes.

It is not possible of course to have an evening dinner, nor speeches or auction.  However, in-line with the ‘new normal’ there will of course be the opportunity to enjoy a drink or two after the round including the option of a meal (additional charges apply).  It is your opportunity to catch up with golfing friends, discuss those missed putts that got away or even just to enjoy a few more hours of escapism from the real world!

To book your post round meal please contact the catering team.  Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis.  Once the clubhouse tables are fully booked the option of an outside table will be made available to you.

A new addition to Charity Day is Sammy’s Special Gin Bar in the courtyard!

An additional small covered area will be created in the courtyard in case the good old British weather doesn’t play ball!!

Rest assured all Government guidelines will continue to be adhered to including the relevant social distancing.

PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT

Even if you are unable to take part in the tournament itself you are still able to support some wonderful Charities and be in with a chance of winning a prize!

The previously mentioned Name Cards will be available to enter in the Clubhouse and Pro Shop in due course.

I invited Capt. Tom Moore to enter a team and raise the charity profile, but sadly he and his chums are playing elsewhere.

Finally, for those members not playing, please show support for the event by entering in the name cards.  These will be available for a week before the day at the pro shop and at the Clubhouse Bar, remembering that 100% of the money goes to strictly local charities.
